Perhaps it’s because I’m currently engrossed in an extensive quilt project involving 1,543 circles of fabric needing to be sewn onto 1,543 small squares that I am seeing dots everywhere. Here are some textile artists who have incorporated the circle into their work in really beautiful ways.
Sophie Digard elevates crochet to a stunning new level with her handbags and scarves.

Frank Connet does the same in the medium of shibori.

I love the graphic quality of Margo Selby’s hand knotted rugs – the way the fields of dots are subtly broken up by color shifts.

Here is a quilt by Margaret Rogerson – there is a certain visual power in the three offset stacked circles.

Ana de la Cueva’s work brings her circles into more of a 3-D constellation with the use of embroidery hoops.

Here, I used the circle as the letter “O” to represent one half of a pair of “XO” pillows.
